Status of Medical Aid in Dying

On March 5, 2025, Assemblymembers Joe Dalia and Danielle Gallant, along with Co-Sponsor Senator Edgar Flores, introduced the Nevada End-of-Life Options Act (AB346). This bill would authorize medical aid in dying, allowing terminally ill, mentally capable adults to request a prescription from their doctor to bring about a peaceful death and avoid unnecessary suffering.

To review the bill, the Assembly has formed a Select Committee consisting of the following members:

  • Assm. David Orentlicher (D-Las Vegas) – Committee Chair

  • Assm. Cecelia González (D-Las Vegas)

  • Assm. Danielle Gallant (R-Las Vegas)

  • Assm. Cinthia Moore (D-North Las Vegas)

  • Assm. Rebecca Edgeworth (R-Las Vegas)

In a recent 2024 poll, 63% Nevadans support that terminally ill patients should be allowed the option to use medical aid in dying.

Faced with a terminal diagnosis, people in your state deserve the full range end-of-life care options, including medical aid in dying. Medical aid in dying allows terminally ill adults to get a prescription they can take to end their life peacefully.
