Status of Medical Aid in Dying

HB254 was filed by Representative Bob Lynn with bipartisan support and 7 additional co-sponsors in January of 2025 and assigned to the House Committee on Judiciary. On March 3, the committee voted 11-7 “Ought to Pass” and the bill was released to the House. The bill was scheduled for a full debate in the House on March 20, however, a member who opposed the bill asked for a vote to table the bill. The request passed 183-182, and the debate did not occur. The bill remains on the table, not making crossover this formal session. It can remain on the table until the 2026 formal session begins.
