HB 1283, carried over from the 2023 session, is actively moving through the legislative process.
Most recently, the bill passed the House floor and moved to the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services where it was heard on April 24, 2024. The Senate Committee did not vote in favor of the bill (3-2) but it went to the Senate floor for a debate and vote on May 16, 2024. Senate voted 17-7 to send the bill to “interim study,” which means the bill is done for the year. The bill moved out of Senate and House committees, passing a Republican House with a bipartisan vote, for the first time ever.
