In November, Compassion & Choices connected with communities and clinicians from coast to coast in an effort to improve care and empower everyone to prepare for their future healthcare and end-of-life experience.
Here’s where our Community Engagement and Clinical Engagement and Education teams were in November:
In partnership with Comité Mexicano de Cleveland, C&C’s Latino Engagement team participated in the city’s 20th Annual Día de Muertos celebration. Around 3,000 community members attended and over 100 people received valuable information about healthcare planning. Meanwhile in Massachusetts, Latino Engagement partnered with Casita Cultura Latina to sponsor the state’s largest annual Día de Muertos event. Around 1,000 people attended and 50 were reached with materials about end-of-life care and options.
C&C’s African American Engagement team joined around 500 other professionals at Learn Serve Lead 2024, the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)’s premier learning and networking event. This annual reunion aims to inspire, empower, and foster a community of individuals in academic medicine, healthcare, and research.
African American Engagement sponsored and attended the Black Health & Equity Brunch hosted by The Center for Black Health & Equity. Members of C&C’s Faith Engagement team and C&C’s African American Leadership Council Members were also in attendance, providing an opportunity to connect with other attendees and spread the word about C&C’s mission. The event featured an engaging panel about self-care in health equity and diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work.
C&C attended and sponsored the 2024 End Well Symposium, a day-long gathering exploring all aspects of the end-of-life experience. This unique conference is a rich hub of brilliant minds and huge hearts, with an incredible caliber of speakers; it is attended by nurses, end-of-life doulas, doctors, high school students, social workers, artists, producers, chaplains and grievers alike – sharing space and tears together. Presenters offered their insight through curated and beautifully produced storytelling during the full day; sparks of joy and wisdom came in equal measure. Members of the Clinical Engagement & Education team joined the hundreds of attendees, and held a lunchtime chat on advocacy. The whole team looks forward to growing the relationships they made at the event.
