NJ: Ask Chairman Conaway for a Vote on Medical Aid-in-Dying Legislation

August 26, 2016

We sent this message to our NJ supporters this week:

I’ve got some great news! More than 250 supporters like you wrote to your senators to ask them to cosponsor the Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act. Thanks to you, the legislature knows how strongly we support this crucial legislation.

For this vital medical aid-in-dying legislation to move forward, committees in both the house and senate will need to schedule hearings, and then votes, on the bill. And we need your help to convince the committee chairs to post the bills and get the process started.

You can help advance this legislation by writing Assembly Health and Senior Services Committee Chairman Herb Conaway and asking him to place the bill on the agenda for the committee’s next meeting.

Encouraging letters from people across the state have the potential to go a long way in convincing Rep. Conaway to hold a hearing on the Aid in Dying for the Terminally Ill Act. Get involved today to let him know medical aid in dying is so important to you.

Please feel free to include a personal story in your message — it’s impossible to overstate the resonance of personal testimony when appealing to lawmakers.
