Maryland Lobby Day 2020 was a huge success!

I am proud to share the news that our lobby day last Tuesday was a huge success! 

We had over 185 attendees and 15 legislative sponsors and cosponsors come out to support the Maryland End of Life Option Act. We took to the hallways of both the House and Senate and held a press conference that ended in chanting “the time is NOW!”

While I write you, still on cloud nine from Tuesday, I must emphasize that we are not in the clear and our work is far from over. We must get senators to vote yes on this bill. We lost by only two votes last year and we need those two additional votes to secure passage this year.

Please write your senator TODAY. There’s no time to delay as Maryland’s legislative session is now less than 90 days from ending.

We are continuing this fight with our legislative champions’ legacies in mind. I felt Congressman Elijah Cummings, Speaker Michael Busch and Marcy Rubin in that room with us on Tuesday and I am dedicated to passing this law, this year, in remembrance of them.

For those of you who came out and took time out of your day to rally around this important work, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I walked away Tuesday afternoon feeling completely inspired. Maryland Compassion & Choices supporters are the best in the country and I stand by that.
