2023

On November 9, 2023, Michigan State Senators Cavanaugh, Hertel, Singh and Klinefelt introduced a medical aid in dying legislative package comprised of Senate bills SB 678,  SB679SB680, and SB681. The bills did not move forward.

2017

On March 30, 2017, Michigan Reps. Tom Cochran and Pam Farris introduced House Bill 4461, the Death with Dignity Act , and Rep. Kevin Hertel introduced House Bill 4462, which stipulates  criminal penalties for altering or forging a request for medication or coercion of a patient. The bills did not move forward.

Pre-2017

In 1998, supporters introduced Proposal B, an aid-in-dying measure modeled after the Oregon law. The ballot initiative was unsuccessful, with 71 percent of Michiganders voting against it. The state also made four legislative attempts in the second half of the 1990s.
