Georgia Bill History

2023

In April 2023, Compassion & Choices submitted an amicus brief to the Georgia Court of Appeals to ensure the courts honor the preferences of incapacitated patients.

2020

The Georgia Death with Dignity Act (SB 291) was introduced on January 14, 2020, by co-sponsors Sen. Steve Henson and Sen. Nan Orrock. It was referred to the Health and Human Services Committee on January 15. This is the first time the Georgia legislature considered a medical aid-in-dying bill, however the legislature was suspended session due to COVID-19 without taking action.
