Doctors for Dignity is a community of physicians from across the country speaking out in support for a full range of options at the end of life, including medical aid in dying. Sign up today. We provide the tools and information you need to effectively communicate with lawmakers, the media and the public.
In 2018, the Doctors for Dignity program continued its transformational efforts to reduce opposition to medical aid in dying within the medical profession. The Massachusetts Medical Society became the 10th state entity to shift its official policy from opposed. Supporters were instrumental in softening the AMA’s longtime opposition which resulted in acknowledgement that physicians may exercise conscience in providing medical aid in dying without violating professional obligations. And we celebrated the American Academy of Neurology and American Academy of Family Physician’s move toward neutrality.
