The Berkshire Eagle: Letter: End of Life Act gives people a choice

An excerpt from The Berkshire Eagle letter to the editor, “End of Life Act gives people a choice,” by Williamstown resident Jeanne Marklin, published June 23, 2020:

“The End of Life Options Act is not a suicide pact between doctor and patient. It is a matter of giving the dying patient the choice to decide how and when they will die. If the person wants to choose to die before undergoing pain and wasting away, that should be an option for them...

...A patient can get the approval for the medications and then decide not to take them. Fifty percent of the people who are granted the option in Oregon decide not to use it. Having control over our body before our death is a kindness....”
