Two Compassion & Choices staff members and a video project featuring late advocate Brittany Maynard won high honors recently, a great acknowledgement of our important work and talented team.
Director of Legal Advocacy Kevin Díaz, who heads C&C’s litigation and legal strategy efforts, received the Oregon Hispanic Bar Association’s 2016 Paul J. De Muniz Professionalism Award. The award recognizes, among other things, “significant contributions to the justice system and public, exceptional courage in the face of adversity, and exemplary service to the Latino community.” Over 230 people attended the ceremony, held annually in Portland.
The American Association of Political Counsultants (AAPC), dedicated to fostering political professionals, selected National Director of Political Affairs Jessica Grennan as one of their 2016 “40 Under 40” awardees. Grennan, who leads C&C campaigns across the nation, will join the other elites in her field honored for leadership and innovation in the political community at the AACP awards ceremony in San Juan, Puerto Rico, in April.
And C&C’s “Brittany Maynard’s Call for End-of-Life Options” video, which went viral and contributed enormously to the success of our campaign to pass California’s aid-in-dying law and the push for similar laws nationwide, won the 2016 Reed Award for “Best Web Video For Public Affairs Campaign Or Issue Advocacy.” The Reed Awards recognize excellence in campaign management, political consulting and political design. You can view the powerful video here.
Congratulations to all involved for these well-earned accolades!
