On October 26, 2024, the Compassion & Choices Board of Directors adopted this updated values statement:

  • Compassion & Choices believes all individuals should have access to equitable end-of-life care, regardless of gender identity, age, sexuality, race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, wealth, marital status or disability.
  • To authentically advocate for and support our community members from diverse backgrounds, Compassion & Choices must reflect America’s social and racial fabric. Therefore, we are committed to actively promoting diversity, equity, inclusion, & belonging within our board, executive leadership team, staff recruitment and hiring, external communications, vendor engagement, and among our volunteers.
  • Compassion & Choices understands the importance of incorporating diverse perspectives and respecting cultural norms in our daily work as we strive to improve decision-making at all organizational levels. Failure to implement and execute such practices may cause team members and valued partners to feel marginalized in the work we do. This is unacceptable.
  • As an organization committed to diversity, equity, inclusion, & belonging, we encourage and advocate for ideas that make us stronger and provide meaningful engagement, particularly among historically underrepresented communities.
