Stories are an essential part of our work to educate and empower all people to understand their options, plan ahead and take action early to chart their end-of-life journey.
Motivated by the impact of racism, inequity and disparities in end-of-life care, we are connecting with people nationwide to spread the word about the importance of end-of-life care planning and accessing quality end-of-life care.
I'm so greatful that my work with Compassion & Choices provides me with the resources to improve my personal life and to allow me to think about hte resources that are out there for families like my own who want to prepare for the end of life.
Language and communication barriers, cultural differences, and a lack of familiarity with the U.S. healthcare system and insurance are common challenges for immigrant and first-generation caregivers.
In April, Compassion & Choices was honored to participate in the Merrie Monarch festival in Hilo, Hawai’i. This weeklong celebration brings people from all around the world to celebrate the art of hula. The festival honors King David Kalākaua, and his patronage of the arts and love for Hawaiian culture.
Throughout this year’s Asian American, Native Hawai’ian, and Pacific Islander (AANHPI) Heritage Month, Compassion & Choices expressed its appreciation for this diverse population with a lively assortment of activities.
