Ahead of the 2024 session, Wisconsin introduced AB781, which would authorize medical aid in dying. It is being championed by Representatives Ohnstad, Joers, Palmeri, Snodgrass, Emerson, Jacobson, Conley, Stubbs, Sinicki, Subeck and Clancy. A companion bill, SB 739, was filed in the Senate, sponsored by Senators Hesselbein, Agard, and Carpenter. Both bills failed to pass.
Faced with a terminal diagnosis, Wisconsin residents deserve the full range of options for care at the end of life, including medical aid in dying. Medical aid in dying allows terminally ill adults to get a prescription they can take to end their life peacefully.
