Rays of Hope for the Year to Come

December Note From the CEO

This year, 2020, will go down in history as a once-in-a-generation journey. The events we’ve endured as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic will have a profound and lasting effect on all of us, both personally and professionally. This past year we endured heartbreak after devastating heartbreak as we watched our loved ones, friends and colleagues cope with the challenges the pandemic wrought.

As we approach 2021, my view is one of optimism. On a personal level, it has reaffirmed the importance of living life to the fullest each and every day. On a professional level, we’re seeing that the increased awareness of the fragility of one’s life is resulting in more people being aware of and engaged in advance care planning. My hope for 2021 is that together we can turn this increased awareness into meaningful legislation and improvements into the delivery of care for all of us. Read Compassion & Choices Backs Federal and State Bills for Better Care to learn more about our efforts in this regard.  And in the event you missed it, you can hear more about our plans for FY21 by watching the video of  An Evening of Compassion: Tributes, Stories and Song

One of the highlights of the evening was the release of the new Compassion & Choices signature song, This is Your Show, with its uplifting messages of personal empowerment, autonomy, gratitude and planning for the end-of-life experience that you want. Watch it, share it and keep the conversation going!

As we say goodbye to 2020 and reflect on the incredible journey, I want to recognize the many contributions of supporters, donors, volunteers and allies within the Compassion & Choices community. The time, talent and generosity you have given us throughout the year go a long way toward helping people navigate difficult end-of-life challenges and find their way to peace in their last days. On behalf of Compassion & Choices, thank you.
