A dementia diagnosis can be devastating. Currently one in three seniors will die with this disease. While it’s not possible to accurately predict whether or not you or a loved one will be diagnosed with dementia, with proper planning and a strong healthcare advocate, it is possible to avoid needless suffering at the end of life.
If you are diagnosed with dementia, giving your loved ones clear instructions on the type of care and treatment you want at each stage can lift the burden off of them and ensures that your care is consistent with your values and priorities.
