In his role as National Director of Integrated Programs at Compassion & Choices Matt Whitaker works to support medical education, end of life planning and client services nationwide. Over the course of his 6 years at Compassion & Choices he has taken on various roles including time as the State Director for California and Oregon as they launched campaigns to increase access to end of life choice. Matt has spoken at numerous conferences on bioethics and person-centered care across the country and testified as an expert resource on end of life choice to numerous state agencies and legislative committees.
Matt holds a Masters in Theological Studies with emphasis in Integrative Theology from United Theological Seminary of the Twin Cities, a speciality certificate in Hospice and Palliative Care Chaplaincy and is a Board Certified Music Therapist.
Aside from his duties at Compassion & Choices Matt also sits on the board of the Northwest Association for Death Education and Bereavement support where he serves as the membership chair. Matt lives in Portland, Oregon with his wife and daughter where he spends his free-time playing music, trail running and practicing Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.
