End-of-Life Consultation Services
Compassion & Choices supports, educates and advocates for choice and care at the end of life. We counsel individuals facing a terminal illness and their families through our End-of-Life Consultation program. We provide assistance in all aspects of end-of-life decisions, including living will and advance directives. We press for state-of the-art pain and palliative care in courtrooms and at bedsides around the country.
End-of-Life Consultation program
1. The End-of-Life Consultation program serves individuals, families and others who face a terminal illness and those simply planning for the future. We provide useful information, support and counsel about decisions and options at the end of life.

Staff and volunteers help our clients navigate the health care system, encouraging contacts to local resources, including hospice providers, pain specialists, social service agencies, support groups and others.

3. We teach family members how to advocate for their loved ones, and help those who are ill to advocate for themselves.

4. For terminally ill, mentally capable adults, we provide information on hastening death when suffering becomes unbearable.

Help with Living Wills and Advance Directives
Compassion & Choices provides assistance in completing living wills/advance directives for health care and offers counsel on how to talk with family members, friends and health care providers about individual concerns and wishes. We advocate for people when their living wills/advance directives are not honored.

Legal Advocacy Services
All patients have the right to adequate pain and symptom management; to refuse life-sustaining treatments; and to request and receive palliative sedation. Our legal advocacy team works to ensure you, or your loved one, receive the best end-of-life care possible and that advance directive wishes are honored.
We help families seek disciplinary action or damages when end-of-life care has been inadequate and successfully defend doctors who face loss of licensure for providing aggressive pain relief.
